Jacksonville Motorcycle Accidents Are They Increasing?

A Jacksonville motorcyclist was killed in a crash Wednesday morning. It appears the driver of the SUV made a left hand turn into the path of the motorcycle. The accident is still under investigation. The graphic details grab our heart as we consider the family of the motorcyclist. The force of the collision propelled the motorcyclist into the back seat of the SUV. This is the second death of a motorcyclist this week. May is Motorcycle awareness month, safety organizations and motorcycle riders are trying to get the word out. The messages “Look Twice Save a Life” and “Share the Road” created by safety organizations remind drivers that motorcycles are everywhere. The messages were created with an understanding of how often a motorcyclist dies because a driver was distracted making a quick decision with a quick glance and never saw the motorcycle. The motorcycle awareness campaign has created cute fun posters but a serious motorcycle crash inflicts devastating pain on families for years to come.
