Melissa Rivers, daughter of the famous comedian Joan Rivers has filed a Medical Malpractice suit against Yorkville Endoscopy, the New York City clinic where Joan's life was put in jeopardy. Joan Rivers passed away September 4, 2014, Melissa decided last week to file a lawsuit four months after her mother's death. The 81 year old star checked into the clinic for a routine endoscopy. Complications lead to her death a few days after the procedure. The lawsuit filed in Manhattan paints a disturbing picture. Melissa Rivers said in a statement "What ultimately guided me was my unwavering belief that no family should ever have to go through what my mother, Cooper and I have been through. The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible." The lawsuit centers around an unauthorized medical procedure and failure to act as her vital signs deteriorated. Melissa was also disappointed in the allegations that surfaced of photos taken with mother and Dr Korovin taken while her mother was under anesthesia. It is shocking that so many medical mistakes were made that lead to the Wrongful Death of Joan Rivers. Her daughter said it best, "My mother deserved better." We agree that no family should ever have to go through what Rivers and her family have endured. We believe everyone regardless of their financial circumstances, age or station in life deserve better.
