Jacksonville- Fatal Crash I-95

A fatal crash on I-95 just south of Old St Augustine Rd. yesterday morning at 3:30 a.m. was caused by debris in the road. Charles Campbell a 59 year old Jacksonville resident was killed in the crash and two others were injured. The crash involved three tractor-trailers, one SUV and one car. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the first tractor-trailer hit a large piece of metal on the highway that disabled his brakes. He was able to coast to a stop without crashing. The second tractor-trailer jackknifed when it attempted to go around the debris. The second tractor-trailer blocked two lanes and the emergency lane after it jackknifed. An SUV ran under the tractor-trailer the driver was Mr. Campbell. A fourth vehicle was rear-ended by a third tractor-trailer. Both occupants of the car were taken to the hospital with injuries. This accident serves as a solemn reminder that all drivers need to be responsible for securing anything they may be hauling. 

Yamaha Motorcycle Recall

Yamaha Motorcycles is recalling certain model year 2015 YZFR1M motorcycles manufactured January 19, 2015, to March 23, 2015. The affected motorcycles may have been built with an improperly manufactured rear shock absorber. The nut on the damper rod for these shock absorbers may loosen, resulting in a loss of damping and the possible disassembling of the shock.
If the damper rod nut loosens, shock absorber performance would be affected, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the motorcycles and replace any affected rear shock absorbers, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in May 2015. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990095.

Triumph Motorcycle Recall

Triumph Motorcycles America, is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Daytona 675 R and Speed Triple R motorcycles manufactured January 1, 2014, to April 1, 2015. The affected motorcycles may have been built with an improperly manufactured rear shock absorber. The nut on the damper rod for these shock absorbers may loosen, resulting in a loss of damping and the possible disassembling of the shock.
If the damper rod nut loosens, shock absorber performance would be affected, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear shock absorber, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 13, 2015. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SB524.

Military Appreciation at The Players - May 5th, 2015 TPC Sawgrass • Ponte Vedra Beach, FL

ilitary Appreciation Day at THE PLAYERS is today TUESDAY MAY 5 with the 2015 Ceremony beginning at 6:00 p.m. Big & Rich will headline the Military Concert beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the lower Clubhouse Lawn. Active Duty, Military Reserve, National Guard, Military Retirees and Military Spouses along with their dependents receive complimentary tickets for each day of the Players Championship Tuesday-Sunday. Jacksonville- Pedestrian Accident

A serious pedestrian accident occurred on Jacksonville's University Blvd. at Barnes road Friday night around 10 p.m. The victim Jackie Warren-Weinrich remains on life support while her family has made the difficult decision to donate her organs to save the lives of others. Her husband Robert Weinrich witnessed the tragic accident. While crossing the street Jackie stopped in the middle of the road when the light changed she was then struck by a vehicle, her husband saw the shoes she left behind and heroically rushed over to shield her with his own body from on-coming traffic. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
