A deadly auto accident on Jacksonville's Northside early Monday morning has left two young children without a father while the wrong- way driver responsible had only minor injuries. According to the Florida Highway Patrol Joshua Mintz 27, was driving south in the northbound lanes on North Main Street near Busch Drive just after 2 a.m. when his Ford F-150 pick-up struck a northbound vehicle driven by Robert Creech. Creech died at the scene he was only 30 years old. Mintz suffered only minor injuries. Police are investigating the accident and believe alcohol may have been a factor in Mintz's tragic decision.
Twenty-two percent of drivers involved in fatal auto accidents were impaired by alcohol according to a report by The National Highway and Traffic Administration. Fatal accidents have decreased in recent years thanks to seat belts and air bags drivers and their passengers are surviving more often in serious crashes but the percentage of alcohol related deaths on our highways has remained almost the same.
