St Johns County was the scene of an auto crash involving three cars and serious injuries on Interstate 95 just south of County Road 210. Five people including two children were injured in the crash all five were sent to area hospitals two had serious injuries, the injuries of the children ages 6 and 7 were reported to be only minor injuries. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Anthony Hickox the driver of a Toyota Rav 4 failed to slow down when traffic started to build up causing a rear-end collision involving two other vehicles. The Rav 4 overturned and landed in the center lane of I-95. The driver of the Rav 4 suffered serious injuries. The driver of the second vehicle a Chrysler Sebring was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle a Nissan Altima was reported to have only minor injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and charges are pending.
The mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando has shaken our nation with grief. The victims, their families and friends are not facing this devastation alone. The outpouring of concern has included large corporations giving monetary donations while golden retrievers were transported to help the victims and their loved ones with emotional healing, a long list of restaurants in the area are donating proceeds from their businesses to help the victims. Sixteen year old Ruben Kelsey died in a fatal crash on Jacksonville's Arlington Rd. while the younger teens in the SUV with him were hospitalized with serious injuries around 4 a.m. on Sunday. The Honda Pilot was reported stolen from a Mandarin home prior to the crash. The driver was apparently driving at a high rate of speed when they lost control trying to navigate a turn onto Rogero Rd. The vehicle crossed the median and struck a concrete wall and a large utility pole. The impact caused serious damage to the vehicle ejecting the three teens from the SUV. Rueben Kelsey was pronounced dead at the scene the other 2 occupants were only 14 years old. The 14 year olds were reported to be in critical but stable condition. Jacksonville Sherriff's Office had some difficulty identifying the 14 year olds since they were not old enough to have a driver's license. If your teens have a phone make sure they have entered emergency health data and contact information on their phone. The Florida Department of Motor Vehicles issues Florida ID cards with photos for anyone over 5 years of age. Muhammed Ali, the three-time World Heavyweight Champion Boxer passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 74. Loved and admired around the world condolences went out to his family and friends from those he loved and even those he defeated in the ring. George Foreman tweeted "It's been said it was Rope a Dope, Ali beat me with no his beauty that beat me. Most beauty I've known loved him." Michael J Fox commented on his Foundation website, "Muhammed was a true legend-a champion in the boxing ring, and a champion for millions of Parkinson's families. We looked up to him as an example of grace and courage in the face of great challenges." Muhammed suffered courageously with Parkinson's disease. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar posted on his Facebook "I have met hundreds of renowned celebrities, artists, athletes, and world leaders. But only a handful embodied the self-sacrificing and heroic qualities that defined my friend and mentor, Muhammad Ali." Muhammed Ali proclaimed I am, "The Greatest" in the eyes of fans, friends and family Muhammed lived up to that claim.
A serious Recall has been issued by several companies including Quaker Oats, Kashi and Treehouse. Treehouse distributes products under a variety of names including Great value brand sold at Walmart. The recall includes granola, granola bars, sunflower seeds and almonds. The products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people or those with a weakened immune system. Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
