A Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accident that occurred in January has led Savannah police to an arrest due to a Crime Stoppers tip. Darcia Wilson, a 50 year old Jacksonville resident has been arrested in connection to the January Hit-and Run accident that claimed the life of Peter Meyer of Vero Beach, Fl. Meyer was found on the ground in front of his hotel. Investigators believe he was attempting to cross the street around 10:30 p.m. when he was struck and his body was thrown into shrubbery. Peter Myer's family issued a statement this week, "We are so grateful for the persistent and through investigative work by the Savannah police that has led to the arrest of the person who killed our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Our family continues to be devastated by this loss. While we remember him every moment and miss him everyday, our thoughts are of him especially today, on the eve of Veteran's Day. He was an American hero and he was our hero. We pray for closure and hope that some measure of justice will bring us peace." The family's heartfelt statement is a sobering reminder that every pedestrian fatality reaches deep bringing grief and devastation to their family and their friends. Share the Road!
