Three fatal accidents occurred this weekend all three unrelated separate accidents in Jacksonville have left heartbreak for the families and many unanswered questions for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The first of this tragic string of accidents a hit-and-run occurred Saturday morning on Atlantic Blvd. at Acme Street when Fransico Antunez attempted to cross Atlantic Blvd he was struck by a vehicle. According to a witness, a vehicle in the right hand lane struck Antunez slowed down and then fled the scene. Police are asking any potential witnesses to please come forward. The second fatal pedestrian accident in this tragic story occurred Saturday night. Jose Irizarry was struck by a vehicle on Beach Blvd. near DeSalvo Road. The victim had already died from injuries sustained in the accident when police arrived at the scene. The driver in this accident stopped to help and is cooperating with the police investigation. The final Jacksonville pedestrian fatality this weekend occurred Sunday morning around 8:44 a.m. on Matthews Bridge. Ricky Dailey was walking east on the Matthews Bridge when a vehicle struck the 29 year old man from behind propelling his body over the railing of the bridge to the embankment below. The victim was found on Victoria Street where he had fallen. Dailey sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver fled the scene after striking Dailey. Police believe they may have found a possible vehicle but the accident is still under investigation. They are requesting that anyone with any information about an accident on the ramp or bridge Sunday morning to please call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.
