A Jacksonville city garbage truck burst into flames Monday afternoon after crashing on the Westside of town. The driver of the truck and his passenger were seriously injured in the accident. The accident occurred on Normandy Blvd around 2:00 P.M. Monday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the city garbage truck was behind another vehicle that slowed down and attempted to turn left onto Manning Cemetery Road. The garbage truck driver did not slow down quickly enough and began swerving to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him. The garbage truck driver lost control. The garbage truck flipped over and burst into flames. Both the driver and the passenger managed to escape the garbage truck but they were both seriously injured in the accident.
