Orange Park, Fl- A fatal pedestrian accident was a tragic scene this morning for residents along Capella Road in Orange Park. Around 9 this morning residents along Capella Road between Uranus Lane and Centura Drive went outside their homes and discovered a body in the road. Neighbors have been concerned about speeding in the area. The shock set in as police investigators gathered. The victim apparently hit by a vehicle and left to die alone another deadly hit-and-run accident. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the accident occurred Tuesday morning before 9 a.m. The victim was an adult male. Investigators have not released the victims name.
Thanksgiving weekend a fatal accident on Jacksonville's Westside claimed the life of Callie Crump. Callie Crump was only 36 years old she was employed by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Callie Crump was stopped due to traffic when her Toyota Corolla was rear ended by a Ford Expedition on I-10 eastbound at U. S. Highway 301 in Baldwin. The crash involved multiple vehicles that left an infant and two children among the seriously injured victims. The children were passengers in the Ford Expedition. The driver of the Expedition Wanda Jones and a 22 year old passenger was also injured in that vehicle. The impact of the Ford Expedition pushed Callie Crump's vehicle into a Jeep Patriot the driver of the Jeep was seriously injured. Tragically seven were injured one fatality. Callie Crump was remembered as a kind, generous woman of faith. She will be greatly missed by friends, family, fellow Trinity Baptist Church members and her little dog Buddy.
A tragic pedestrian accident has claimed the life of 74 year old George Maxell Point on Saturday. George Maxwell was busy planning a garage sale placing signs along County Road 218 in Middleburg as he stepped onto the highway he was struck by a Toyota Camry. The accident is still under investigation. Neighbors have sited speed as an issue on that highway. The speed limit is 45 but many drivers reportedly exceed the speed limit on County Road 218 in Middleburg. Sadly, pedestrian accidents in the Jacksonville area continue to escalate.
A bicycle accident has claimed the life of an outstanding 17 year old young man on Palm Valley Road. Christian Meier was struck by a Toyota Corolla as he crossed the road. Christian died from injuries sustained in the accident at Baptist Beaches Hospital. Christian Meier was a decorated member of the Navy Junior ROTC program at Nease High School. He had been selected to attend the NJROTC Leadership Academy. Sadly, his dreams of becoming a Navy pilot will never be realized. Christian's family, friends and classmates will no doubt miss this exceptional teenager.
A pedestrian accident in Jacksonville has claimed the life of a Brunswick, Georgia resident. Harold Martin left his vehicle that apparently broke down on Interstate 95 near the Emerson Street exit. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Martin attempted to cross the north bound lanes of Interstate 95 when a 2011 Mercedes C300 struck Martin. The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Martin died at the scene. We are saddened by the number of pedestrian accidents in our area. The victims include children walking to their bus stop, elderly attempting to cross the street, several have been hit-and-run situations and this latest victim was apparently attempting to get help after his vehicle broke down.
Fatal Hit-and-run accident on Jacksonville's Northside. The hit-and-run driver in the accident left three young adults to die at the scene.The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is requesting your help if you have any information. The fatal accident occurred around 2:04 a.m. on the morning of March 6th on Duval Station Road and North Main Street. The victims were all riding in a dark colored BMW when they were struck by a silver car possibly a late model Ford Fusion. The hit-and-run driver is believed to be a white male. A Good Samaritan at the scene pulled one of the victims from the car the other two passengers were ejected in the crash. Sadly, witnesses report the hit-and-run driver stopped briefly a few feet away from the wreck leaving two victims on the ground and the third victim in the BMW before he pulled away from the deadly scene heading north toward Jacksonville's airport. The victims are John Curtis Carlisle, Jr., 24 years old, Kyle Cassani, 23 years old and Alison Nicole Bushey she was only 21 years old.
